Eeeeeeew "with the others" eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew. And what I really want to know is whether those other bad habits help to buffer Booth against committing the final bad habit that the story reveals. Twisted, twisted.

If I were going to get a rejection letter, I guess I'd want to get it from them. They seemed to have the nicest of the letters. I'm glad that you did get that published later!

That is an interesting story. Didn't see that coming! Wohoo!

Loved this! I envy writers who can write flash fiction, especially with a solid surprise at the end. It's much, much harder than most people assume. Too bad the short stuff doesn't pay as much as a novel.

I really enjoyed this story. I like how the main character is sympathetic in spite of his ways, I guess how like Dexter is, but YOU did it first, right? I, too, submit to lit mags. In fact, I think I think I've got a reject letter from the Missouri Review. Hey, maybe we could start a Missouri Review Rejection Club- ha ha! Actually, there is a magazine - I think it's called The Rejection Review or something, where you can only submit material that has been rejected by at least 5 publishers. How cool is that?

Jim says: That is cool, and I have any number of stories that qualify! I remember another magazine (or possibly an anthology) that was only open to stories where they were accepted and then the venue went out of business. I have some of those, too ...
