Finished!

Posted by jamesviscosi on April 15, 2012

Well, for the one or two readers (both of whom are most likely in the UK) who are still waiting for the follow-up to Dragon Stones (which was once upon a time the #1 best seller on the Kindle fantasy lists in the UK), it is finally finished!  The new book, Shards, is part one of a two-part fantasy series, and clocks in at about 111,000 words.  For those who are keeping track, that’s somewhat shorter than A Flock of Crows is Called a Murder or Dragon Stones, but longer than Night Watchman or Long Before Dawn.  Why release it as two books instead of one?  Well …

Random Rejection: The Seymour Agency

Posted by jamesviscosi on June 20, 2010

I haven’t done a Random Rejection in a while, so I reached into my giant accordion file and pulled out a letter. This one is from the Seymour Agency in upstate New York (not far, in fact, from where I went to college). Their opinion is that the manuscript I sent, A Flock of Crows is Called a Murder, needs work; fortunately, they’re here to help.

“Crows” Now On Kindle!

Posted by jamesviscosi on March 28, 2010

We’ve got company this week so I’m trying not to do so much blogging (and I already blew an hour or two on Dennis’s Sunday Awards and Meme show), but I just wanted to let everyone know that A Flock of Crows is Called a Murder has been approved and released on Kindle. Get yours here — only 99 cents! And of course no post about Crows would be complete without an excerpt to whet your appetite …

“Flock of Crows” Coming Soon For Kindle!

Posted by Dennis the Vizsla on March 21, 2010

I just finished reformatting A Flock of Crows is Called a Murder for the Kindle, so within a day or two it should be available for that device for the low, low price of $0.99! As usual it will be DRM-free and text-to-speech enabled. If you have a Kindle, or use the Kindle reader for your computer or mobile device, check it out! I will be putting up the link to the Kindle edition once it has been approved by the gatekeepers at Amazon.

To tide everyone over until the Kindle edition is available, here’s a randomly-selected excerpt from the book:

New Version of “Flock of Crows” Available!

Posted by jamesviscosi on October 18, 2009

As I mentioned last week, I’ve been working on a new edition of A Flock of Crows is Called a Murder that, among other things, restores the infamous missing epilogue, plus fixes various issues with the layout from the most recent edition, which was a scan produced by BookSurge of the original DarkTales edition of Crows.  This edition is now available at my Lulu storefront and should become available at Amazon.com and other outlets over the next few months.  I also plan to do a Kindle edition once the ISBN and distribution is finalized.  In the meantime, please visit my Lulu store and check it out there!

Scene-Of-The-Month: April 2009

Posted by jamesviscosi on April 5, 2009

The votes are in and the readers’ choice for a “scene of the month” is A Flock of Crows is Called a Murder, which squeaked in ahead of Dragon Stones by one vote.  Pulling down a copy of Crows off the shelf and flipping through it to a random page, I now present not one scene, but two, back-to-back; because that’s how we roll around here.

Together, these two scenes form the pivotal section of Crows that could be described as “the part where everything starts going straight to hell”.

Okay, So I Lied

Posted by jamesviscosi on January 18, 2009

Earlier, I wrote a brief story about how I got into the horror field; now, as promised, is the story of how I got out.
