Spoiler Sunday: The Catacombs

Posted by jamesviscosi on August 12, 2012

Last week I posted a (partial) tension-reliever as to the fate of Bernard and Nebandalex after the first cliffhanger at the end of Shards; this week, it’s Mercy’s turn, after things … how shall I put it? … go less than well for her during her second run-in with the villain of the piece.

As before, major spoilers lie ahead!

Here’s Where The Story Ends

Posted by jamesviscosi on January 9, 2011

Most of the readers of this blog are probably aware of my other, much-more-popular-than-this-one blog, Dennis’s Diary of Destruction, which features the antics and adventures of three dogs, an evil cat, ninja hedgehogs, a sarcastic field mouse, a stoner ex-DEA drug-sniffing dog, and various other bit players. When I discovered that Dragon Stones had hit the best-seller list on the Amazon.co.uk Kindle store, I put Dennis’s blog on hiatus so I could concentrate on finishing my next fantasy novel (which is not a sequel to Dragon Stones — but, due to popular demand, such a sequel will be coming eventually). This decision produced much sadness amongst Dennis’s nice readers. Fortunately, one of them, Mango Relentlessly Huge, has most thoughtfully provided an ending to my book so that I can get back to Dennis’s Diary that much faster. So here, for your reading pleasure, is the final chapter of my next novel, as written by Mango the mastiff. Enjoy!

Crosspost: stuf frum japan wot isnt elektroniks!!!

Posted by jamesviscosi on July 18, 2010

Because I’m feeling lazy, and because Planet Ross is a frequent reader/commenter here, I thought I would cross-post Dennis the Vizsla‘s article about the book Ross sent him from Japan. As you can see, Dennis is a great connoisseur of literature, and also has friends in high places.

The Early Years: Jim Likes Animals

Posted by jamesviscosi on February 8, 2009

These “early years” samples are not really writing-related, but they probably explain a lot about why I spend so much time on Dennis’s crazy adventures.

Okay, So I Lied

Posted by jamesviscosi on January 18, 2009

Earlier, I wrote a brief story about how I got into the horror field; now, as promised, is the story of how I got out.

And On The Sixth Day

Posted by jamesviscosi on December 21, 2008

In place of the usual random rejection letter or snarky review, this week, we have my installment of The Sixth Photo, which Dennis’s friend MyEye tagged me to do.  In my case, the sixth item in the sixth folder was another folder, so I took the sixth picture from inside there.  I’m sure it will come as no surprise to anyone that it’s a picture of a dog.

The Depressing Song Challenge

Posted by jamesviscosi on December 12, 2008

Dennis recently got tagged by Tony in Tasmania to do the Depressing Song Challenge, but since he doesn’t usually listen to the lyrics, he asked me to handle the challenge for him.  So here I present my current top depressing song and video, “Broken”, by Seether, featuring Amy Lee of Evanescence:

Where’s Jim?

Posted by jamesviscosi on September 12, 2008

I’m still here!

If you’ve been following this blog for any length of time, you’ve probably noticed two things in the last few months:

  1. My posts have slowed down
  2. The promised edition of Father’s Books is nowhere to be found

These two items are of course closely related.  The main reason for both of them is that I’ve been having so much fun writing Dennis’s Diary of Destruction that I haven’t made much headway at all editing Father’s Books for the last couple of months.  I’m sure that I’ll finish it eventually, but for now, the adventures of my gullible, narcissistic, grammatically-challenged, slightly paranoid vizsla seem to be taking precedence.  Why?  Let’s trot out another list:

  1. Immediate feedback in the form of comments is pretty gratifying
  2. I’m enjoying the change of writing absurd comedy and slapstick instead of horror (I would say that much of Dennis’s diary still qualifies as fantasy, my other major genre)
  3. I never made any money off my books anyway

So if you were breathlessly waiting for Father’s Books (that’s okay, I know you weren’t), I apologize for the delay.  But in the meantime, can I interest you in some GIMPed pictures and nonsensical conspiracy theories?
